Mill Green Village wins The King’s Foundation Landowner Award
We are delighted to have received the Landowner Award from The King’s Foundation for Mill Green Village, presented as part of its annual Building a Legacy event.
The story of Mill Green began in 2011, when residents of this historic Hertfordshire hamlet joined us for a three-day charrette to discuss the challenges facing the village and ideas for its future. The masterplan shaped by those conversations was actively supported by residents when planning permission was granted in 2018, despite the complexities of its Green Belt setting and listed buildings.

Completed in 2023, the scheme includes nine new homes, designed in keeping with cottages built by the Estate over many years and guided by our Design Code and Pattern Book. The Grade II-listed Green Man pub has also been restored and reopened, while a new village green and meadow help reconnect the hamlet with Mill Green Museum and Mill.
It embodies our long-term approach to stewardship: respecting what makes Mill Green special while helping the village continue to thrive.

We are grateful to the residents of Mill Green, Brooks Murray Architects, Jarvis Homes and Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council for the part each has played over more than a decade.
Our thanks to The King’s Foundation for the recognition, and to Englefield Estate for hosting this year’s event.
